Like most colleges and universities, Tallahassee Community College is bursting with resources to make your college experience easier and more manageable. Here is a list of some of the most useful TCC resources:
• The Library: Did you know that the library is there for far more than checking out books? Make use of the library and gain access to the computers, printing, and
the Riley Archive (a collection of historic materials of African American history) for better managing your school work. The Library also houses a handful
of study rooms, each with their own dry erase board and accompanying markers. These study rooms are both for group work and private use (in case you need a quiet place to escape).Visit the William D. Law Learning Commons for your study nee
• The Learning Commons: Are you interested in free tutoring? The Learning Commons offers just that. The William D. Law Learning Commons provides learning and technology assistance, resources, and computer access to all currently enrolled TCC students and university partners. Visit the Commons for both one-on-one and small group tutoring provided by faculty and trained staff, along with technology support, science models and electronic resources, and helpful handouts. Be sure to visit the Virtual Learning Commons as well.
• The Advising Center: The Advising Center may be the most critical and necessary resource you use at TCC. The Advising Center in located upstairs in the Student Union in room 207. The purpose of the Advising Center is to assist students on confirming their educational and career goals. This is where you map out your schedule from semester to semester and decide on your classes. The Advising Center assists you in determining what classes and credits you need to both graduate from TCC and transfer to another university. If you can, take advantage of transfer Golden Guarantee Programs like, TCC2FSU, TCC2FAMU, and TCC2UWF.
• Advice from the Editor: When registering for classes, do not wait. As soon as your window for enrolling in the next semester of classes opens, make the time to meet with an advisor. Do not procrastinate planning. You will risk your chances of getting the classes you want and need.
• The Career Center: If you’re looking for a job, career counseling, or internships, the Career Center at TCC has you covered. For starters, if you’re still unsure of what to major in, the Career Center provides excellent computerized career surveys and assessments to help you decided, such as Career Coach, MyCareerShines, and SIGI3. The Career Center is physically located on the second floor of the Student Union in Student Support Services.
• Mental Health Services: Your mental health is no joke and it is important to speak with someone on occasion about the difficulties in your life, however big or small. With our personal lives challenging us in every possible direction, coursework becomes difficult to manage at times. To assist students with achieving their academic goals, mental health counseling services are offered to students of TCC. Services are free, confidential are provided by a licensed psychologist, a licensed mental health counselor/registered art therapist and a practicum counselor . A classmate of mine spoke highly about seeing a counselor on campus at TCC. Last semester, she had a weekly appointment with a counselor to casually discuss the stresses of her daily life. She informed me that these services helped her better manage her day to day life.
