About the Monticello Opera House:
The Monticello Opera House is an historic icon of North Florida. Built in 1890, it once was the main venue for operas and cultural performances for the entire region. The Victorian era theater is known for its superb acoustics, its intimate ambiance, and just possibly, the friendly spirits from a bygone era that are said to inhabit its ancient spaces. But more significantly, over the last several years it has become an important venue for theatrical and musical performances of all kinds serving the entire North Florida area.
Maintaining a historic building of this vintage is an expensive mission, and the Monticello Opera House depends on the generosity of many patrons to keep this institution alive, well, and vibrant.
