Many students are juggling busy schedules with classes, homework and often a job, but few are also preparing for the launch of their swimsuit line this summer.
Sharon Hernandez is one of the few.
A freshman at TCC pursuing a degree in business with a minor in communications, at 18 Hernandez is also an entrepreneur.
Originally from Miami, her hometown is the inspiration for her swimsuit company Traquil & Tropical Swimwear by Star.
“I’m from Miami so we’re known for like our beaches and stuff and that’s really the place where everyone vacations so just doing a bathing suit line is more a touch of home,” Hernandez said.
She says she plans to continue developing her business in the coming years.
Although it’s far from Miami, Hernandez loves her newfound community at TCC.
“I like that it’s very diverse,” she said. “It’s like a home away from home.”
Preparing a business launch in just a few months and on her way to earning her degree Hernandez seems to be on a path to make her beloved TCC community very proud.
