Lauren Tucker is a sophomore from New York and is majoring in Animal Sciences at Tallahassee Community College.

Tucker had set her sights on being a veterinarian from a young age but was put off by the intensity of the course. She has since settled on becoming a vet tech but says she’d be happy in any field where she can treat sick or injured animals.

“Right now, I’m working to get a job in that area, or something similar, so I can have experience in that line of work,” Tucker said.

Tucker is very fond of the professors at TCC, who she says have been kind and accommodating to her.

“I remember having a college composition teacher named Greg Lloyd, and I was able to talk to him about almost anything,” Tucker said. “I could even bring up a game and he wouldn’t mind.”

Tucker isn’t much for physical sports. She says her favorite outlet is video games.

“I’ve always loved playing handheld games because I’ve never been comfortable with a bigger screen,” she said.

She says she’s also getting into computer games like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2.

Aside from gaming, Tucker enjoys writing stories. She says she used to upload some of them online, but the lack of feedback was discouraging.

“I didn’t really get that much attention, aside from one person who commented a lot for maybe a month or so,” Tucker said. “So I figured if I’m gonna write stories, I might as well keep them to myself.”
