The Women’s Student Union will be hosting its annual Involvement Fair for the new school year at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, on floor 4 of the Thagard building on Florida State University’s campus.

Event coordinator Joelle Malika said students can expect to gain knowledge on several different organizations on the campus as well as join these organizations on the spot.

“We are expecting a great turnout this semester,” said Malika, who is a junior majoring in mass communications and media. “With this event we are hoping students will get more involved on campus.”

Malika said the event is open to any and every student looking to join an organization on the campus. She says students who aren’t necessarily looking to join an organization but just want to know what options are out there are welcome as well.

Last semester, a total number of 23 students showed up to the event. Since this is only the third Involvement Fair the Women’s Student Union has hosted, the number of attending students is expected to grow.

Sarah Moore, who is a member on the committee and joined the Women’s Student Union at one of the Involvement Fairs, said the event is very informative and helped create a secondary safe space for students alike.

“I was very shy and so I needed this to help me get involved on campus, I couldn’t have done it on my own,” said Moore. “I was a little one-dimensional when it came to organizations on campus.”

While the Women’s Student Union is hosting the event, all students, both male and female, are welcome to come and get some insight on the organizations the campus has to offer.

“I attended the event sophomore year and it was the best thing I had done,” Moore said. “Students should definitely come and check out the event.
