On Feb. 27, the Men’s Basketball All-Panhandle Conference Teams were announced. A total of five Tallahassee Community College players were selected to them. One player selected was sophomore guard Richard Washington.

Washington received a first-team selection for his performance this season. He finished as the Panhandle Conference’s fifth-leading scorer with 16.6 points a game. The sophomore guard also ranked second in the conference for rebounds with 8.1 per game.

“I put a strong performance on the court this year. Developing my rebounding was very important, I worked a lot with Coach Zach. He taught me how to play more aggressive and I enjoyed it.” Washington said.

Washington also served as a team leader this season, using the knowledge he gained from Wake Forest and sharing it with his teammates.

“It meant a lot to know that the guys trusted me and looked to me for leadership. With my ACC experience, I believe it helped establish a high level of intensity on the court for us.” Washington said.

Washington has drawn the interest of several universities. He is currently exploring his options with several universities including San Diego State, San Jose, and Tulsa.

“Rich is one of the most mature and driven players I’ve ever coached. He led by example and showed  everyone what he is capable of this year.” Coach Zach Settembre said.
