The Tallahassee Community College Career Center will hold a Hiring Fair 1-4 p.m. on April 8 in the Student Union Ballroom. This will be the eleventh year of hosting the Hiring Fair.
The event is open to all students and the general public. The employers participating in the event are offering full-time and part-time employment as well as internships.
Tyrone Johnson, the internship coordinator for TCC’s Career Center, said this is a great event to ask specific questions about all the opportunities an employer may have.
“Research the employers that will be present at the event,” said Johnson. “Learn about their mission statement, their vision, their purpose and see if that’s something you’re interested in.”
Dress for success! Business casual and suits are the only acceptable choices for anyone planning on going to the event.
Bring a smile and an updated resume, too. Need help developing a resume? Not to worry.
TCC’s Career Center is also hosting several Resumania events. This helps students improve on or create a professional resume, which is required for the Hiring Fair.
Nervous about an interview? The Career Center will hold CareerFEST prior to the Hiring Fair to gain confidence in answering typical interview questions.
Christy Mantzanas, the career development & employer engagement coordinator for TCC’s Career Center, said employers let the Career Center know after the Hiring Fair when they’ve scheduled an interview with a student.
“We actually have employers that interview on campus the day after the Hiring Fair,” Mantzanas said. “We have many success stories that have come from that.”
