Tallahassee Community College students are struggling to manage their time with work and classes while staying motivated.
TCC students, like many college students across the globe, are taking most, if not all, of their classes online. The vast majority of TCC students work.
Last year, TCC conducted a survey that showed 70 percent of students work part-time or full-time while attending school. This semester, TCC is offering 20 percent of classes in-person, 60 percent by using the LIVE format, and 20 percent being traditional online classes.
TCC student Ashley Flores works part-time as an administrative assistant. Now that she is at home full time, working a part-time job while taking online classes, she is still trying to adjust to it all.
“I can say that because we’re just not used to it,” said Flores. “We were not used to any of this. So it’s very hard to adapt.”
First-year TCC student and Pizza Hut employee Chloe Morris said that working 20 hours a week while attending classes in the middle of a pandemic, has not been easy.
“It’s been a little hard because now that I’m out of high school, I can work more hours,” Morris said. “So I’ve been getting those hours. And I’m trying to still have time to do my college work which is harder because everything is online.”
