Tallahassee Community College’s Career Center will host its fourteenth annual Hiring Fair on Thursday, Oct. 22. Those planning to attend may do so from home, as this year’s Hiring Fair is planned as a virtual event.
The Hiring Fair is open to all members of the Tallahassee community in search of full-time, part-time, and internship positions. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. To register, visit this link.
TCC Career Counseling Specialist and event organizer Felicia Williams said the main goal of the Hiring Fair is to provide opportunities to students, particularly those with specific interests. Various industries will be represented at the fair.
“All the employers have to offer something,” said Williams. “If they don’t have anything to offer, it’s really a waste of time.”
TCC Internship Coordinator Tyrone Johnson said that attendees will have the chance to speak to potential employers one on one. Business casual dress is required.
“Even though something is virtual, you still want to treat it as though it’s the real thing,” said Johnson.
Johnson said that it is important for students to maintain a professional online profile. To help students develop a professional appearance, the TCC Career Center plans to host a LinkedIn photo booth event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
“You may not have your photo right before the hiring fair,” said Johnson. “But at least you’ll have that photo so you can always update your LinkedIn profile later on.”
Williams said that students can benefit from the Hiring Fair even if they are not immediately hired.
“If all else fails, you’ve advanced your networking skills,” said Williams.
