Tallahassee Community College student Justin Lawrence filed a lawsuit against his former residency at the Social 2700 Student Spaces in Tallahassee, Florida. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Lawrence and other residents were denied access to amenities in the apartment complex without any prorated refunds.

After the complex’s property manager denied his request for a refund on rent, Lawrence hired Tampa Attorney Billy Howard, who is seeking class-action status. This case could potentially be followed by thousands of other lawsuits filed by college students living in student housing who were denied access to their amenities without any refunds throughout the pandemic.
