Jesula Jeannot has never forgotten when the earthquake hit Haiti in 2010. She lost everything and watched her best friend be killed right before her eyes, according to VoyageATL.
She and many others in the area lost their homes and all their belongings. They stayed in tents and cried while watching the people pull out the dead bodies and piling them on top of each other.
Florida State University graduate Jeannot has used her experiences of her surviving the Haiti earthquake of 2010 and not being accepted because of her sexual preference and other painful experiences to motivate others. Jeannot wrote her first book “The other side of pain” that is available on Amazon and her website ( www.JesulaJeannot.com) to help people turn their negatives into positives.
Jeannot said speaking is her passion and she will use her voice in any way she can to give back to the community. Writing became her escape and part of her healing process and that’s why she decided to share a few experiences with the world to help others with their breakthroughs.
“Writing became my escape it became my how I cope with my traumas that I didn’t get a chance to talk about.” Jeannot said. “The Other Side of Pain” is a lot of growing, a lot of healing and a lot of things that may not be in my control and I refuse to be a victim of that past and pain.”
Jeannot always uses her voice as a weapon. In her book she explained how in school she was bullied because of her accent and because of the way she dressed and she begin to isolate herself until she got the opportunity to join an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program competition to speak and that is when she understood the value of using her voice.
“ Because they don’t know who I am and what I’ve been through so it’s my chance right now instead of using violence and cussing them out or cry why not share my story with them and make them realize I am human too and been through some stuff.”
