The staff at the TCC Talon were curious about TCC President Dr. Jim Murdaugh’s music taste. An email was sent, and within a couple days, a playlist titled “Memories” was sent in return.
With a variety of songs, ranging from Kenny Rogers’ classic “The Gambler” to “Hotel California” from the Eagles, Dr. Murdaugh said that these songs are his go-to music.
“Though this seems an eclectic mix, each of these songs carry fond memories, and are ones I can sit down and listen to anytime,” Dr. Murdaugh said.
“When I hear Bocelli, I think of the concert I took my wife to for Valentine’s Day. The Eagles remind me of road trips with my son to go hang out at amusement parks,” Dr. Murdaugh said. “If I have a particularly big project I’m working on, or a long drive, I really like songs with a classic guitar sound, from Led Zeppelin to Eric Clapton.”
While some might be unsure at first when asked what their favorite song is, Dr. Murdaugh was confident with his answer.
“My favorite is (songs by) Santana… I actually have a custom-framed signed album of his hanging in my home office that was given to me as a gift from my team here at TCC,” Dr. Murdaugh said.
“I think music is a really great form of self-expression,” Dr. Murdaugh said. “It can help us get through a textbook chapter, or it can help us with the loss of a family member. I would always encourage our students to listen to as many different types of music as possible and develop their own eclectic tastes.”
