Tallahassee Community College’s Forensics Team won its second consecutive national title in the Hindman Division at the Phi Rho Pi National tournament in St. Louis. It is the 22nd consecutive team sweepstakes award for the college.

All six team members advanced to elimination rounds, a feat last accomplished in 2008.

Team co-captain Allison Grove led the team with two gold awards in Extemporaneous Speaking and IPDA Debate. She was the only undefeated debater in that event at the tournament.

Co-captain Madison Reed also received a gold award in Prose Interpretation and a silver award in Dramatic Interpretation.

Tiffany Canseco received gold in Dramatic Interpretation and had the low score at the tournament making her the national champion. Elizabeth Blair also received gold in Dramatic Interpretation. Grace Chapman received silver in Prose. Faith MacGregor added to the point total with bronze medals in both Dramatic Interpretation and Prose.

At the Pi Kappa Delta National tournament in March, the team took second place in the junior college division and cracked the top 25 in the university division. Elizabeth Blair was crowned national champion in Drama, with Allison Grove, Tiffany Canseco, Amanda Holton, and Madison Reed bringing home Superior and Excellent awards.

At FIFA, the four-year state tournament, TCC took second place behind the University of Central Florida, besting the University of Florida, Florida State University, the University of South Florida, as well as other programs in the state. Allison Grove led the Eagles winning the individual overall speaker award.

At the FCSAA tournament, the squad rolled as usual, winning overall team sweepstakes for the 20th time in 22 years. The squad won 10 of the 13 events and had 31 finalists. Team members also shined individually in individual overall speaker awards: First place Madison Reed, second place Allison Grove, fourth place Norah Snider, and 5th place Amanda Holton.

The team is planning an encore performance for friends, family and the TCC community in May.
