Tallahassee Community College student Josie May says that her father has mostly influenced her music taste. Born in Quincy, Fla., May recalls listening to his large stereo full of music collected from his childhood to his adult life that shaped the roots of her childhood. For her, music is something that they share and grow together in and it further strengthens their bond today.

“Music is so important to me, and the songs I listen to reflect my personality,” she said. “I chose these songs because they are songs that will stick with me forever.”

May believes that lyricism is an important start to expanding music taste. She recommends “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)(Taylor’s Version)(From the Vault)” for someone who looks for a story in a song.

“I think that’s what is so cool about music is that it can be so personal,” May said. “Not everyone hears the same song. Everyone has their own interpretation.”
