Jude Kazwell is a second-year TCC student majoring in Psychology. Jude’s music taste is inspired mainly by his mother, who has been to many concerts throughout her lifetime, extending the same opportunities she received growing up to Jude and his siblings. They have bonded over countless artists and concerts from artists such as TOOL, Phoebe Bridgers, Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, and Frightened Rabbit.
“The band Frightened Rabbit, in particular, got me through some of the hardest times in my life, just as it got my mom through some of her hardest moments,” Jude said. “That is why my mom and I have matching Frightened Rabbit tattoos.”
Jude’s favorite memory connected to music is his family trip to Voodoo Fest in New Orleans in 2016. It was his first trip to New Orleans, and first time at a music festival.
A poet himself, Jude finds the most important part of a song to be the lyrics. He enjoys dissecting the metaphors and word choices that artists choose to include in their songs. “Saintseneca and Pinegrove are two bands that exemplify this quality and I can spend forever dissecting their discography and their lyrics,” says Jude.
